Shanti Children’s Foundation
Each year Pacific & Rose Textiles gives a percentage of our profits to support the Shanti Children’s Foundation. Founded by my friend Pam Whitworth, the Shanti Children’s Foundation educates disadvantaged children in Nepal.
Before Pam embarked on her first Nepali trip in 1995, she asked me to arrange a meeting with my mother Betty, an artist, who was living in Nepal at the time. When Pam landed in Kathmandu, my mother was at the airport to greet her, and introduced Pam to her Nepali friends and to her beloved Nepal.
As it was for my mother, Nepal felt like home to Pam. She returned repeatedly, and in 1997 she started sending a single child to school. Over the years she asked friends to help with educating disadvantaged kids in Nepal. Then one day she suddenly realized she was smack in the middle of developing the kind of charity that she had always felt called to create! And Shanti Children’s Foundation came into being.
I really love what Pam has created, and I can’t think of a better cause to support, especially knowing all the trials and hardships Nepal has been through. You can find more information on Shanti Children’s Foundation here:
