After discovering the ancient art of hand block-printing while traveling through India I founded Pacific & Rose Textiles in 2001 . Immediately smitten with the colorful Indian fabrics, I was inspired to produce my own collection of block-printed products including table and kitchen linens, pillows and scarves.
Working from my California studio, my design recipe combines traditional Mughal Indian motifs, lots of happy color, a hint of California coastal influence to create a contemporary new feel. Traveling the world has been a huge inspiration for me. I developed a love of global textiles that I feel has become part of my design DNA, and my textile company gives me an outlet to express that – a travel journal on fabric so to speak.
A drop of ink, a smudge, a little mis-registration – these aren’t mistakes. They are the hallmark of a hand-printed fabric. To see evidence of the “hand” of the artist on a printed textile is magical. These fabrics are heirlooms in the making and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
